Osman Azaak,' one of the Khalifa's commanders, has. warned the d«rvishes in Dongola that the Egyptian force are very strong, and that their guns pour in bullets liko water." v June 27. The railway in the Soudan has been opened as far as Akasheh. v June 28. Three thousand dervish refugees are at Ferkeb.. One hundred and fifty of them have joined the British expedition. June 29. The women and children of the dervishes have been withdrawn from Berber to Khartoum. Calcutta. June ÜB. • The Indian Government strongly protest against payment of the expense of sending a contingent of Indian troops to Suakin.
