Mr A. W. Hutton, M.A. TO THE EDITOR.

Sir,— ln the Witness of June 18 there is a leaderette whioh ridioules the author of a book on the vaccination question, whose name appears at the top of this letter. I have not seen the book referred to, but I append a few of the opinions of the British press on Mr Hutton's book, and think these opinions are entitled to equal respnet with thoEe of the writer of the article in the Witness.— l am, &c, Sanitation. Danedin, June 20. However much or however little assent its propositions and reasonings may command, no one interested in the matters of 'which it treats will read it without profit and instruction.— The Scotsman. Mr Hutton is an opponent to vaccination, but his treatise will bear perusal, if only for the temperate way in which he' states his caie; in this, respect he is in marked contrast to the common antl-vaccinator of the day. The book should be read by medical men and others, if only to show how a capable mind sees " the other aide. — GUwgow Herald. ■*"- His book is able, temperate, and comprehensive.—Newcastle Leader. The author has ably restated the case against vaccination in the light of the additional experience acquired during the last ten years, and he deals in cogent fashion with the arguments and statements submitted in its defence. The tone of the writer is perfectly moderate, and there is such an evident desire to deal fairly with the system that its advocates might certainly read it with advantage, especially thoge who have accepted vaccination mainly on trust, and nave never really examined the • case either for or against it.— Oldhara Chronicle.
