A JOURNALISTIC VISITOR.

One of the leading financial daily journals of London, the Financial News, has seat a special correspondent to Aucklaud to investigaCa and* roporb on the spot). This gentleman, Mr Percy F. Mark?, who, in his mission, also represent^ the Glasgow Herald, is one of the directors o£ the first-named paper, and is a brother of Mr Harry Marks, M.P., its editor-in-chief. From the birth of the Financial News in 1883, be has been connected with it, visiting South Africa then as special correspondent. A second visit wag made to Johannesburg in 1890, on which occasion ho stayed a contidttcable time, corresponding with ,tbe Fuiauoitd News, Mining Jourual, New York Mines and Eugfneering Record, and editing also the Johannesburg Standard. After an attack of typhoid fever he returned to England, and since then he has been on special misaious to various gold* fields, the latest being to those of Wettralia, coming thence to Auckland. | Shortly after his arrival, ho was seen and interviewed by a, Herald representative. Speaking of the increased interest in England in New Zealand minei, he says : " When I left England with the express purpose of visiting New Zealand there was an 1 exceedingly hopeful feeling prevailing in regard to your onterprises here., For my own part, t cannot understand how the mineral products of this colony have been neglected. 16 is true > that British investor* have had several disappointments, bat, all considered, these have not amounted to anything like the fortunes which have been lost in the Indian, South African, and South Australian goldfiWds. lam starting upon a four or fire weeks' tour of the Thamei, Ooromandel, and Paeroa fields. When I return I may have more to say. I must add, however, that nothing could possibly havo exceeded the courtesy and kinduess with which I have been received by your prominent men."
