Eeefton, May 30. Saturday mi<sday quotations. — Big River, 23* 6d to 24s tid ; Euller dredge, ds to 6s 6d ; Cocksparrow dredge, Is 6d to Is 9d ; Cumberland, 3a M to 4s; Exchange, Is G\ io Is 9d: Dillon Extended, 2j 6d to 2s 9d ; Hercules, 3s 9d to 4s ; Keep-it-Dark, 30j to 31s ; Golden Le»d, Is Id to Is 3d ; Inglewood, Is to Is 4d : Lyell Creek, 3s 3d to 3s 6d ; Lord E'hvard, 2a 6J to 2s 9d ; No. 2 South Dark, 2a 3d to 2s 6d ; Buccoaa, Is 2d to Is 4il ; Alpine, 15s to 16s ; Welcome, 2s 3d to 2a 6J : Electric Light, 9J to Is. Big Hiver.— Skcc last repoit the drive in No. 5 level has been extended Bft. The ground looks well for stone at any time, but there is yet a distance of 17ft remaining before the work reached the point indicated by the survey. The winzo in No. 5 has only been sunk 3ft for the week, as only two men were at it. The stone i 8 still going down, but is underlying very flat. At present there is no change to report in the stone between No. 3 and 4 levels. , . - Battery and Dredging Returns. — Big River, 19oa amalgam from, Bs tons of stone (top plates only) ; Cocksparrow dredge, 450z amalgam for 127 hours' dredging. Alpine.— The mine manager reports for the week as follows :— " The east drive at No. 9 level has been extended a further distance of 16ft. The tot:*l dibtauce driven for the month is 63ft Gin. The ground indicates proximity to a reef. The west drive from the same level has been extended a further distance for the month of lift. The country is nice, dark slate with mineral stains on the facing. The drive at No. 4 level has been extended another distance of 15(t, making a total distance of 41ft. Owing to the reef having sheeml to tho west at a very acute angle, it became impossible to bring the drive fast enough to follow it, but we will be on it again in a few days. The drive at No. 1 has been repaired Oft, making a total distance of 18ft." Shaies in the St. Patrick's Hill Company are moving off, and confidence in the prospects ia expressed,
