CANTERBURY AGRICULTURAL. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Christchurch November 26.

The month's rainy weather has made an almost miraculous change in the aspect of the country. At the end ot October the pastures were very bare and crops extremely backward and in danger of being a total failure. A run through the country the last few days has shown that everywhere the crops ha.ye made such progress that a week's bright, warm weather will bring them quite up to their normal stage at this period ; while grass is abundant and turnips are coming away well. The fanners' fear is that the showery weather will contirue too loug and cau-e rust, but at present the crops could not lcok healthier. Though there is this ploutiiu Je of feed there is very dull demand for sbore sheep beyond these which can be turned c-ff fat in two or thrte week*. Ewe 3 and lambs are very cheap, but greziers make no move. It is very evident that prime mutton, both shop and freezing, will be scarce for some time, and anything anawericg to this description meets with active competition. For the rest the market is mainly supplied with ewes of all ages, for which vendors accept almost any price they can get. The latter class certainly dce3 nob exceed l£d per lb on the block, while the former commauds quite 2-\d. '1 he market for lambs for export has scarcely opened yet, busers evincirg a disposition to hold off. Goad freezing lambs fetch 10s to lls. Unless the weither improves it is doubtful whether any large proportion .will be in freezing condition before ChrUtmas.

Bubeu- won the third match in the sculling contest with Haulan.
