OTAGO CENTRAL RAILWAY LEAGUE.

The following correspondence will be of interest to those who have consistently supported the pushing on of the Ofcago Central railway :—: — Naseby, November 18, 1895. Sir,— l have the honour, by directioft of the council; to forwai'd herewith copy of resolution respecting the services rendered by the Otago Cent al Railway League in their highly appreciated endeavoura in urging on the Government the speedy constiuction of the Otago Central railway line. — I have, &c, John Forrester, Chairman Maniototo County Council. William Birron, Esq , Chairman Otago Central Railway League, ' Dunedin. Moved by Or Guffie, seconded by Cr Burnett— " That this council wishes to place on record its sense of the value of the work done by the Otago Central Railway League, of Dunedin, in tirelessly urging the construction of the work. This council is of opinion that the league has rendered great seivice to the settlers of Central Otago — an opinion which this council is confident is shared by these settlers— and will heartily support the efforts of the league in future, and consider that the bridges on the Hyde-Kyeburn section of the railway should be put in hands at once, to enable that section of the line to I c opened for traffic with as little delay as poesible. That a copy of this resolution be forwarded fco William Barron, E=q , chairman of the league, whose services have been so freely given in aid of the work." Caverßham, 22nd November 1805. Meantime, I kaow that those who are associated with me in the work of the league will, as I do, receive your communication with great pleasure, the more so as recent letters from some of those iv authority in your district have been very discouraging. m It must be obvious that the league cannot hope to make such progress as it ought to do if it is not iv thorough accord with the people in Central O'ago aud does not have their active co-operation, and it is gratifying to ba thus reassured by you in that respect.— l have, &i., W.
