In descending the hill the weight told upon Flovizel 11, and before entering the Abingdon Mile Bottom he had dropped out of the front three, although otrnggling bravely to the end. In the meanwhile Rockdove had collared Count Schiinberg and Bard of Avon, and was going out with the race in hand until the boy took up his whip. Thereupon she swerved from the centre of the course to the rails on the stand side, whioh enabled both B»rd of Avon and Count Schomberg to repass he*, and the Bard was now drawing away at every i-tride. As toon, however, as Ward had left off using his whip Ronkdove came ou with giant stiifks, and catching Bard of Avon again hand over hand she won an exciting race by half a length, a l»ngth and a-half dividing second and third.
