MOA CREEK.

Septemubh 16.— Arbor day was celebrate! here on the Cth. The weather being fine tended to make the day a most enjoyable one. About 2 p.m. the school committee and teacher, with the parents and children, gathered at the Ida Valley Cemetery, whore the trees were to be planted. The trees were of mauy varieties, including yew, birch, beech, Norway ppruce, laich, nihcrocarpa, &c. Wbeu the planting begun everyone aeeined t-o have an interest in the work, especially the ludies and childien ; they being all anxious to pWnt their tree?. After the trees, which numbered 100, were all planted, au adjournment was made to a grass paddock, where all the good thiegs in the shape of eatable* provided by the ladiet, were served round by them. After justice had been done to the good things, sports wttre got up for the children, and the young ones went foi the winning post like profdfcslonal sprinters When the snorts were over, a start was made for the schooihouse,' all being well pleased with their d«y's outing As soon as the tchoolhou?e was reacViecl the children were treated "to ft d»nce, -which they seemed t o heartily enjoy Afterwards r«fretthlucuts were served round and the dance for the adults was started at about 8 p.m., and kept going with great spirit until 4 a.m., when the crowd hfter haviug gome rcfre'hments dispersed, highly plensed, and wishing Arbor Day would come twice a year. JJuiing the evening several songs were nung. The scho 1 children sang three in very good tstyle, reflecting gieat credit on their teacher (Miss Chuich), who has had them in t aining only for a short time. The dance uiu?ic was supplied by Mr J.
