A CHAMBER' OF MINES.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Auckland, August 12. A meeting for the purpose of forming a chamber of mines is convened for Thursday. It 3 objects are thus defined :— "(0 To promote and protect the mining industry of the colony, and in particular the mining industry of the Auckland gold* fieldß ; (2) to consider all questions connected with the mining industry ; (3) to promote legislative and other measures affecting such industry ; (4) to collect and circulate other measures affecting such industry ; (5) to communicate with and exchange information upon mining matters with the chamber of mines or department of mines in this and other countries ; (6) to procure information as to mines, mining companies, and all other matters relating thereto ; (7) to act as arbitrators in the settlement of any disputes arising out .of mining."
