LATE MINING.

The manager of the Roxburgh Amalgamated Mining and Sluicing Company reports for the month of June as follows :—" Elevating was stopped from the Ist to the 14th, owing to an accident to the main race. Work was resumed on the 14th, and both elevators were at work for the remainder of the month. The gold returns are 1590z 4dwt 3gr— the result of two weeks' work with both elevators. Having cleaned up No. 1 paddock, there will be no elevating done there until the greater part is filled in by ground sluicing. The quality of the dirt in No. 2 paddock has greatly improved, and it is as rich as any wash I have treated in the Teviot district. I shall not be able to treat much of this ground for some time, as I shall have the front ground next the river to work before I can strip it. There is no doubt we have struck what is known as Carlow's run, and as we are on the lower end of it we may expect it to continue right through the fiat. At the monthly meeting of the directors of the company, held yesterday, a dividend of 6d per share was declared, and made payable on the 20th inßt. The secretary of the Miller's Creek Gold Dredging Company (Limited) reports 17oz 4dwt of gold for the week ending 23rd June, and 220z for the week ending 30th June. Our Lyell correspondent telegraphs :—": — " Owing to the jubilance over striking the reef in the Lyell Creek tunnel and the large number of visitors to the mine, very little work has been done on the reef beyond clearing up the face and driving 2ft in what appears to be a good block of atone."
