MAUNGATUA.
July 2. — In the account of the concert held at "Woodside on the 22nd ult., owing to the absence of programmes, I mentioned the name of a person who did not perform (Miss Watts), and also omitted to mention two songs rendered by the school children under the leadership of Miss Sutherland, the teacher, and also a song from Miss Bell, of Woodsido. In justice to the performers I take the opportunity of mentioning this
Agricultural. — The weather still continues unfavourable for ploughing stubble land, but a good deal is being done at present in the way of drainage. Mr George M'Donald's drain plough, worked by a traction engine, has been busy for some time past. A short time ago a paddock belonging to Mrs Millar was drained with satisfactory results, and the plough is at present working in a field belonging to Mr H V. Fulton, at Woodside. The advantages of drainage are becoming more apparent every year, and but for the expense these hard times it would be more gone in for, as the results have so far proved highly satisfactory.
