FRUIT AND PRODUCE REPORT.
Messrs Thomas Paterson and Co., fruit and produce agents, Manse street, report for the week ending June 20 : — Fruit. — Market is still kept well supplied but demand is very slack, owing, no doubt, to the bitterly cold and wet weather prevailing. Sydney oranges, 3s 6d to ss ; mandarins, 6s to Bs. L"monSj 8* to 9s. Pineapples, 9s to 10s per case. Tahiti oranges, 63. Apples : Tasmanian French crabs, stone pippins and Stunners, 7s to 7s 6d ; scarlet pearmains, 7s to 8s 6d ; Canterbury 4s 6d to 6s 6d. Pears : Scarce, quotations nominal. Cocoanuts, 10s per sack. Bananas, 3d to 2d. Figs, dates, walnuts, peanuts, and other fruiterers' sundries in stock.
Produce.— Eggs more plentiful and prices weaker. Butter (fresh), 7d to lOd ; prime salt, 7d to 8d ; medium, 4Jd to 6d. Bacon (roll), 6id to7d. Hams,7idto9d. Pigs, 3Jd to 4d. Cheese: Farmers, 4d to 4Jd ; factory, 4jd to sd. Honey, 3Jd to 4Jd. Beeswax, Is to Is Id. Potatoes : Derwents, £2 to £2 10s ; kidneys (for seed), £3 to £4. Onions, £11 10s. Carrots, 30s. Poultry : Roosters, 2s 9d to 3s 6d ; hens, 2s to 2s 6d ; ducks, 3s 6d to 4s ; geese, 5s to 6s ; turkeys, 5d to 6Jd. Fresh trapped rabbits, 7d. Agents for Australian aromatic horse and cattle food ; also Paton Calvert's matchless metal polish and clean-all powder.
