An Anarchist fired a revolver at Signor Crispi while the latter was driving to the Chamber of Deputies. Signor Crispi escaped ■without injury, and alighting from the vehicle arrested the would-be assassin. On arrival at the Parliament buildings he was accorded a great ovation.
King Humbert visited Signor Crispi, and personally congratulated him on his escape. Several European royalties have wiied congratulating Signor Crispi on his narrow tfceape from death at the hands of Anarchists. June 18. The attempt on Signor Crispi's life was the outcome of an Anarchist plot. His assailant, whose name is Legi, ouly escaped lynching at the hands of an enraged mob owing to Signor Crispi's intervention. Thn prisoner declares that others will accomplish the work which he failed to perform. June 19. Signor Crispi fcas received upwards of 18,000 telegrams congratulating him upon bis escape. destroyed. It is believed to have been caused by dynamite. Washington, June 18. An Anarchist plot to destroy the Capitol with dynamite has been frustrated.
Jaxon, a Canadian halfbreed, who was connected with Kiel's rebellion, was the leader of the plot on the Capitol. He declares that it- was his intention to destroy the other Federal buildings at the time when the Coxeyites reached Washington.
It is said that the Anarchists operating here intended to use a powerful new explosive.
It is alleged that Jaxon was connected with the explosions which took place in Chicago some time ago.
