GOLF.
The first annual meeting of the Danedin Golf Club was held on the evening of the 12th in the Criterion Hotel, Mr A. B. Davie in the chair. The report for the past year was submitted by the secretary, the financial state of affairs behog good. A resolution was passed thanking Mr Wilson, of The Lee, for the use of his grounds at Maori Hill over which the club play. 161 6 was also resolved by the club to provide a monthly medal to be competed for in the form of a handicap upon the last Saturday of each month, the first competition to be on the 30th in&t. The following were elected office-bearers : — Captain and treasurer, Mr A. B. Oavie ; secretary, Mr T. R. Taylor ; membcisof committeeMessrs, G. Armstrong, K. Smith, and E. Patterson.
— Someone has been drawing up a list of the commonest names in Germany. From this it appears that Schulze takes the palm, although he is closely followed by Meyer, and Lehmann and Neumann come at a respectable distance.
