The result of the telegraphic match between Paris and St. Petersburg has not yet come to hand. Messrs Arnoua-de-Riviere, A. Clerc, A. Goetz, and N. Preti constitute tbe Paris committee. Baron Albert de Rothschild, of Vienna, is referee and stakeholder. M. Tchigorin is one of the St. Petensburgh players. A match between Herr Walbrodt, of Berlin, and Dr Tarrasch is anticipated to take place at Nuremberg, 10 games up. The Havannah (Cuba) Club this season invited Mr L?e, the English payer, to visit them. It was agreed that he should play a series of 20 games considered as a match with the club, each of their strongest players playing in turn. The latest advices give the result as Loe, six wins ; the club four, and three draws. This is the New Zealand season for annual meetings. The Otago Club holds its meeting at the end of the month. Players desiring to join should do co at once, as they will have the remainder of the current year and the whole of next for one subscription. Sheriff Spens won the championship of the Scottish Cheaa Association. The meeting began on March 31. The sheriffs success is ft very popular one.
