OWAKA.

February 9. —A service of song entitled "The Oiled Feather" was given in tho Owaka Presbyterian Church by the Tapatika choir ou the sttu inst. Rev. W. G. M'Laren, who presided, readl the connective readings. Tho choir, which consisted of 21 voices under tho able leadership of: Miss Flamank, who also acted as organist,, acquitted themselves in a highly creditable manner. The audience, although not very large, was . exceedingly appreciative. The following duets > were well rendered :— " Let it Pass," Misses Bradfield and Friend; "Don't forent the old folks,'" Mrs Challis and Miss 51. Gatherwood ;/'S5.y a kind word," Mr Wm Wilson and Miss Flamank ; the solo " Good temper," by Miss Lilly, was sung with great expression. The usual votes of thankswere accorded on the motion of Mr John Edie,. surveyor.

Agricultural.— The recent heavy rains and' strong winds have done considerable damage to some of the farmers' crops. It is to be hoped we may have a good spell or dry weather now. The turnips are beginning to look very well. Many of our bush farmers are anxiously waiting for dry weather, accompanied by a fairly steady wind, in order to get a " burn. Dairying. — The dairy factory is progressing favourably, having received a much larger measure of support than in former years. Tho Ratanui people are starting a factory on their own account.

A Doctor Wanted. — A movemont is now in course of progress having for its object the settlement of a medical man in the Owaka township. A young, active doctor should be able to get together a good practice.
