WYNDHAM VALLEY.

December 29.— A picnic was held in Mr Bews's paddock, close to the Wyndhain stream, near Livingstone's footbridge, on Christmas Day. The weather was all that could be desired. At noon vehicles of all sizes and descriptions began to roll in from all parts of the district with a freight of young and old enthusiastic pleasure seekers. The old bachelors turned out in large numbers, forsaking their dismal and cheerless haunts, evidently bent upon once more enjoying the chances of admiring the charming form and bewitching smiles of the fair daughters of Eve. Games of all kinds were indulged in, but the chief attraction was races provided for the children of different ages. After the evening tea the young folk retired to Mr Bews's house to crown the day's amusement by indulging in a little of the "light fantastic" to the music of Mr M'Kenzie's violin. Mr Irwin acted as M.C. During the evening songs were rendered in capital Btyle by Messrs I>. and J. Bews and Irwin, and Miss Bews. After giving three hearty cheers for Mr and Mrs Bews and Mr M'Kouzie, and the singing of " Auld lang syne," at about 2 o'clock in the morning, the dancers dispersed to their various homes. Mr Irwin wbb untiring during the day in organising games for the children.
