Comfortable for the Judge.
A comical, though somewhat startling, experience befell the late Chief Justice Doheityy of Ireland, during his posting days. He was goiDg circuit in a post chaise j and at a dangerous part, where the road skirted a descent, ono of the horses, which had been behaving wildly all the way, began ticking furiously. Much alarmed, Doherty called out :
" This is outrageous ! I don't think that horse has ever been in harness before."
« Bedad, your lordship's rigbfc," answered the driver with a broad grin. "He Wao only tuk out ay the field this mornin'."
"And do you mean to tell me that you have put an unbroken horse in my carriage ? " demanded the indignant judge. " Sorra a sight ay the leather has he iver seen till this blissid day," said the driver ; " an' if he brings your lordship safe to the fut ay the hill the masther says he'll buy him ! "
