Thomas Paterson and Co., fruit and produce »?ents. Manse street, report for week ending August 9 :— Fruit.— The demand is improving, and as no boats will arrive from Melbourne or Sydney for at least 10 days, prices are much firmer. Oranges, 6s to 7s ; mandarins, 7s to 8s ; lemons, 6s to 8s ; Scvf le3, 8s to 8s 6d ; passion fruit, 12s ; bananas, lid to 2d; pineapples, 7s 6d to 10s per case. Hobart apples : French crabs, 10s to lls ; Stunner pippins, stone pippins, .10s to 11s; scarlet pearmain«, 12s. We landed to-day, ex Wakatipu and Wairarapa : 300 cares oranges, 40 do mandarins, 20 do Sevilles, 50 do lemons, 20 do passion fruit, 135 do apples, 20 bag* onions, 45 do bananas. Produce.— Eggs, in short supply. Fresh butter, 7d to 9d; prime salt butter (has very limited inquiry), 7d to Bd. Bacon : Roll, 6Jd to 7d. Hams, Bfd to 9Jd. Pigs (in good demand), 4Jd to 4Jd for good weights. Cheese : Akaroa, 4Jd to 4jd ; factory, 5d to 5Jd. Honey, 4d to 4id. Beeswax, Is. Potatoes are firm at £5 to £5 5s for prime samples ; seed kidneys wanted at £5 10sy Onions: Melbourne, £10; Canterbury, £8 10s, (rising). Carrots, 27s 6d. Chaff :. Prime, 65s to 72s 6d, and wanted. Poultry is in fair demand, and any sent forward can be readily placed. Fresh-trapped rabbits (wanted), 7d per pair. Rabbitskins, 8d to Is 4d.
