LAND BOARD.
A special meeting of the Land Board was held: on Thursday afternoon, and attended by Messrs J. P. Maitland (chairman), Dallas, M'Kerrow, and Clark. ... I SubrenderofLeases.— Consideration wasgiven to the application made by T. Chalmer, on behalf of the following small grazing run lessees, to be allowed to surrender, together with the ranger's report thereon :— John Mulholland (Kakanui and Kyeburn), Jane Mulholland (Kakanui), William Sutherland jun. - (Kakanui), John Harwood (Maerewhenua). — It was resolved in respect of each application — " That the board considers the present rent excessive, and recommends the Governor to authorise the Commissioner of Crown Lands to accept a surrender of the leases as at 31st August, with the view of the runs being reopened for application, at a rental for John Mulholland'a lease at 4d per acre, Jane Mulholland's 9d per acre, William Sutherland's lOd per acre, John, Harwood'B lOd per acre." Tautuku.— Messrs R. B. Martin and Son applied, on behalf of Mr Douglas Kent, to be allowed to surrender section 5, block ■ ll,* Tautuku district, taken up by him under occupation license with right to purchase.— lt was resolved—" That the surrender be accepted, and the deposit be forfeited." Grazing Right.— Mr James Neville applied foe the grazing right over sections 5 and 10, block V, Tiger Hill district, on condition of his keeping the run clear of rabbits.— The application was declined. Transfer of Lease.— The application of Jamea M'Leod to transfer his perpetual lease, section 39, block 11, Glenomaru district, to Mrs O. Munn was approved of. ■ Cancellation of Gold Mining Lease.^-Mt-Edwin Jopson requested that as the lease held by the Great Eastern Gold Mining Company had. been cancelled the area be now thrown into run, 255 i, and that he be allowed valuation for im-. provements effected by him on the land referred to. — The matter was referred to the warden for a report as to cancellation of the lease.
