BALD HILL FLAT.

June 11.— During Friday and Saturday last we witnessed the heaviest fall of snow that wt have had for years. On the low country the snow was about lft deep fas a general thing, and in places where it had drifted it reached the depth of b'ft. The up coach on Saturday was unablo to get through until late in the afternoon—consequently the up-country people had to put in a most uncomfortable day as best they could without the soothing aid of down-country news. As it set in a light, warm rain yesterday I should not be surprised to hear of flood? down-country, as the snow is disappearing very fast. Mining.— Most of the mining hereabout was stopped by the frost some days ago, so that the fall of snow only confirmed the miners in their knowledge that the winter was upon them, and reconciled them to the usual spell which falls to their lot every winter here. At White's andtheExcelsior reefs the miners who were on the ground decided to "get," and it was not without a good deal of hardship that they reached the low ground in safety. Accident.— A rather painful and disagreeable accident occurred to Mr Laidlaw, of Matakanui station, he having his leg broken above the ankle by his horse falling with him at Gorge creek. Foitunately the accident took place near Mr Austin's residence, and the sufferer was removed there pending the arrival of medical assistance. At latest accounts he was progressing favourably and was able to be removed.
