Moritzson and Hopkin, Manse street, Dunedin,report(wholesale)forthe weekending August 31 as follows :— Wheat is receiving more attention, andanygood samples find buyers at quotations. Prime Tuscan up to 3s lOd ; velvet and red straw in prime condition, to 3s 8d ; other qualities, from 3s to 3s 6d. Fowls' wheat : Good whole, 2s Cd to 2s 8d ; medium and broken, 2s to 2s 3d. Having just returned from a trip through Canterbury, we find nearly allstores full of soft wheats, which Are not fit for milling, and we predict good flour will be scarce as the season advances. Roller flour has been reduced 10s per ton. Barley : Very little business passing in this line. Good malting, nominally, 3s 9d ; milling, 3s to 34 3d ; feed, 2s 6d to 2s 9d. Oats have had a better demand during the week with enhanced values. Prime milling and good, short, bright feed, 2s Id to 2i 2d ; medium qualities, from Is 9d to 2s ; long Tartarian and other sorts, suitable for seed, up to 2a 3d. Linseed, Ll3 per ton. Chaif : Well cut and clean heavy quality up to 50s, other sorts from 33s to 408. Turnips, 12s 6d per ton. Carrots, 20s to 25s per ton. Salt Butter in small supply, 9d to lOd. Lard, 4Jd. Beeswax : Is per lb. Honey, market full, 3d to 4d for be3t. Cheese : Factory,sid ; Akaroa, 3}dto4£dlargesize. Hams and bacon : hams, 7d to 8d ; Roll bacon, sid to sjd ; side bacon, 5Jd. Grass seed 3 : Ryegrass— Farmers', 2s to 3s 3d ; machined, 3s 3d to 4s (id; Italian, 3s 9d to 4s Gd ; cocksfoot, 2}d to 3JdWe receive consignments of rabbitskins, pelts, hides, wool, aud tallow, and can quote as follows :— Selected does, Is 4£d ; incoming winters. lOd to Is ; good summers, 6d to 7d ; mixed good bucks and docs, laid to 16d.
