THE BRIDGE-A REMINISENCE.

I stand upon tho bridge to-night, The bridge that spans the river, And watch the moonbeams radiance bright Upon the waters quiver. The sea sing 3on the sad refrain It sang in ages olden, ' While to my heart the mournful strain Recalls past hours golden. It was a night as calm and fair, The tide in wild commotion Between the pillars long and bare Rushed back to join the ocean. We stood together side by side In moonlight's pallidglory, I wooed her for my bonnie bride, And told the old old story. No morq upon the bridge we'll stand, Above the rushing water, For years agone with beckoning hand An angel came and sought her. Like seaweed floatingin the west When autumn winds are blowing, She drifted from my arms to reat Where brighter skies are glowing. Shine on pale orb with sn»wy ray O'er ocean's billowy splendour, Your radiance will not chase away Those memories sweet and tender. Koll on oh tide from shore to sea, Your music ceasing never, The dream of love is o'er and she Is gone from me for ever. — A. L, 0. Z. August 1892.
