THE SYDNEY MARKETS.
The National Mortgage and Agency ComPANY report under date Sydney, 15th inst. : — Wheat. — We are pleased to be able to confirm the good prospects or the growing crops. There is no noticeable change in prices here, although, a slight advance has been scored in Victoria. It is questionable if present values can last much longer. The outlook is very dubious and our millers are operating sparingly. Flour. — Transactions have been upon a small scale in a quiet market. Stocks are fairly good, and buyers are shy, unless at a marked concession on quotations. The tone of the market is not strong. Chick Wheat.— The market is weaker, late arrivals being offered at considerable reductions without attracting buyers. Stocks are considerable.
Oats. — Receipts have been light. The tone of the market is firm and steady, with business upon a fairly liberal scale. Prime feed very scarce. Oatmeal.— The market is ovei stocked and dull, a considerable amount of the stocks being in the hands of weak speculators. Values have declined. Bran and Pollard.— Only a moderate business passing. The market closed weak on Saturday at a reduction on our last quotations. Forage.— Supplies good. Prices have been quoted the same throughout the fortnight. The market i 3 far from strong. Potatoes. — The market has been subject to slight fluctuations, values ranging from 40s to 45s for New Zealands and Mount Gambiers, and from 60s to 75s for Tasmanians. The market for New Zealands has recovered a little, and closed firmer on Saturday for Hauroto shipment. Tasmanian stocks are said to be pretty well exhausted. The position here for New Zealands should improve in onsequence.
