Mr Skkne reports under date August 2 :— This is as a rule always the slackest season, but spring work is looming up, and even at the quietest time good country hand-, are soon placed. Engagements are being made at the following rates :—: — Couples, L(is to L7."i, and special L 80;8 0; cooks, 25s and 30s; gardeners, HOs and 40s; grooms, 15s and 20s ; ploughmen, 20s, special, 255 ; odd farm hands, 15s ; gold niineis, 8-s lid; bushmen, 4s, ss, and 6s per cord ; boys, lads, and men for dairies, 10s, 12b 6d, 15s, and 21K Shepherds quiet.
