AYRSHIRE CATTLE.

By the Talune, leaving to-day, Messrs A. and J. M'Farlane are forwarding another consignment of their now famous Ayrshire cattle for exhibition at the Melbourne Royal Agricultural Show, and afterwards to be sold by Messrs Trenchard and Go. It is needless almost to comment upon the class of Ayrshires forwarded from the Ayrshire Park herd. Previous consignments have proved that the quality of these cattle is well understood by the Melbourne buyers. We regret to say, however, that the prices obtained are not at all times commensurate with the quality of the cattle. Owing to this fact;, Messrs A. and J. M'Farlane purposed not sending any cattle this year, but were urged so earnestly by the Melbourne people that they ultimately agreed to send over their usual consignment. It is to be regretted that some of the cows and heifers leaving to-day had not found purchasers in our colony. Many of them are of such excellent breeding that it is doubtful if one could find better blood south of the line. The whole of the consignment (bulls included) are the direct progeny of imported stock. It would bo difficult to select any special heifer or bull for particular notice, all being so good, but Fancy 111, half sister to the celebrated Melbourne cow, Russell, which has an unbeaten record, and was bred by Messrs A. and J. M'Farlane, .calls for special mention. A more beautiful heifer never graced a show ring. She will no doubt command a big price, being in calf to the newlyimported bull, Marquis of Ailsa. Sultana 111 and IV, Nornia 11, Adelaide 111, Mayflower 111, Lady, and Lady Jane would command the attention of any judge in any show ring in the colonies. Tie bulls also show splendid pedigrees, and no doubt will be heard of as famous sires in the future. We wish Messrs A and J. M'Farlane success in their venture.
