LAND BOARD.

The weekly meeting of the Land Board, held on Wednesday, was attended by Messrs J. P. Maitland (chief commissioner), H. Clark, J. Duncan, A. M'Kerrow, and W. Dallas. Lower Wanaka.— P. M'Leod, on behalf oi the leesees of the Fork run, asked for grazing right over section 1, block VI, Lower Wanaka district, and the reserve on the north-west side of the Hawea bridge, on condition of keeping down the rabbits thereon. — Grazing right over section already granted ; application for reserve declined. Run 337, 337 a. —Mr A. C. Martin, for a client, asked that the term of lease for Runs 337 and 337 a be extended to 21 years.— To be offered for 14 years.

Rocic and Pillar.— Mr Martin, on behalf of Mrs M. Annett, requested that she be allowed to take up part of section 10, block VI, Rock and Pillar district, under deferred payment or perpetual lease. — Application to be considered on agreement for subdivision between applicant and present occupiers and lodgment of necessary survey fees.

Tautuku.— Messrs Murray, Roberts, and Co., on behalf .of G. J. Scott and his wife, holders of sections 3 and 4, block 11, Tautuku district, under perpetual lease, requested that the leases date from the completion of the survey of the sections. — Licenses to date from January 1, 1892. Water ov Leith.— Mr John Colvin applied to be allowed to purchase the portion of the old bed of the Water of Leith through section 10, block XXXVI, Dunedin, of which section he is the owner.— Consideration adjourned for a week. Kuriwao.— With regard to the valuation for improvements on small-grazing run sections 6, 7, and 8, block IX, Kuriwao district, held by David Chalmers, the board being asked to say how the amount paid thereon shold be dealt with, directed that it should be paid over to late lessee, subject to usual deductions

Hummock.— B. R. Whilton requested that section 1, block I, Hummock district, at present part of small-grazing run No. 158 (lately held by J. Cunningham), be taken from the run and offered by itself. — Declined. Maerewjienua. — A letter was received from the Under-secretary for Lands .stating that the Minister approved of sections (J and 7, block X, Maerewhenua district, being offered for lease as a small-grazing run, and requesting the board to fix upset rental.— Governor recommended to .set aside by proclamation, the capital value being valued at 20s per acre. AiiROWTOWiV— The Receiver of i^and Revenue reported that he was unable to obtain payment of interest due by Daniel Shanahan on village special settlement section 2, block XXXV, Arrowtown Extension. —Mr Shanahan to be informed that unless amount in arrears is paid within one month board will take steps to forfeit.

Various Applications. — Applications were dealt with as under : — John Smillie and Thomas Mackee having each applied to take up 20 acres of section 46, block VII, Glenomaru district, under village settlement, it was directed that they should be informed that there are only 2b" acres in the section, which will be -ecoiumonded for notification at 20s per acre; W. Sheriff's application to surrender perpetual-lease section C 2, block I, Catlins district, was accepted, ranger to value improvement's; Patrick Kinney, surrender of perpetual-lease section 8, block X, Rock and Pillar district, was directed to be rescinded on payment of all arrears ; Robert Summer's application to complete purchase of deferred-payment section 31, block X, Glenkenich district, was approved ; James Gore's .surrender of coal le.ise section 5, block I, Crown district, was accepted ; transfer of perpetual lease section 9, block X, Kurow district, from George Philpot to John Howe Chalmers wab approved ; approval was also given to the transfer of section 13, bio k X, Kurow district, from George Stringer to Eleanor Rebecca Chalmers ; and Mr Vincent Pyko's application fora jetty .site license fronting sections 22 and 2.!, block IX, Pembroke town, was granted on an annual payment of L 2, and LI Is for license.

Foui-Ei'inn Holdings.— These were dealt with as follows, :— Small grazing runs section 4, block VIII, and section 2, block IX, Hummock district, and .small grazing run section 4, block VIII Silver Peak district, to be reoffered at a capital value of 20s per acre, with valuation for improvements L 7 115 5; small-grazing run sections 1 to 5, block 11, Hummock district, to be reoffered at 20s per acre, with valuation Ll2l 5s ; small-graz-ing run section 2, block 12, Rock and Pillar district, to be reoffered at 20s per acre ; pastoral lease section 12, block XIV, Maungatua district, to be reoffered at 10s per acre, with L.65 10s Gd valuation ; and deferred-payment section 4a, block Vllt, Dunedin and East Taieri district, to be reoffered at 20s per acre.
