THE FROZEN MEAT TRADE.
(Special to Peess Association.)
London, July 16. The importers of colonial produce recommend Australian exporters to exercise caution in the erection of freezing works, as it is difficult to dispose of frozen meat supplies at 3d per lb. They assert that the demand for the colonial article is limited ; that any increase should be gradual ; and that any sudden influx would result disastrously to shippers. The importers further state that River Plate meat, ■which is improving in quality, is equal to that imported from Queensland and New South Wales, and that hostile tariffs have had the effect of closing the Continental cjarket&.
