Au Auckland telegram states that a quarter- I mile running match for £25 a side, between M. Kowie and J. M'Kean was won easily by Howie in 55sec. M'Kean beat Howie in a half-mile race a few days ago. A Chriatchurch telegnun states that tbe total contributions towards tho expenses of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Team's trip to Sydney amount to £134 5s 6d. Christchurch contributed £82 13s; Auckland, £20 ; Timaru, £10 2s6d; Napier, £10; Invercargill, £9 ; and Wellington, £3 10s. The New Zealand amateur athletic team left Christchurch on Friday by the Wakatipu. THE 220 yds AMATEUR RECORD. Sydney, May 15. P. Macpherson, the Sydney athlete, to day ran 220 yds in 23sec, which is equal to 2yds inside the world's amateur record.
