AUCKLAND ITEMS.

(Fbom Odr Own Correspondent.) Auckland, May 13.

"Mr George Outts, manager at Sylvia Park, ■who has been severely indisposed for some ■weeks past, is, I am pleased to state, again all Tight. In the course of a chat with him he tells me that the young stock at the Park this year are very promising. Unfortunately Mersey (dam of Carbine) missed last season to Nordenfeldt, so that there will be no near relation to the great gun at the next sale. The colt by Nordonfeldt from Steppe (dam of Russley and Lady Norah), Mr Outts tells me, is likely to grow into a muoh bigger colt than the daughter of Saunterer usually throws. The colt by Nordenfeldt from Nelly Moore (dam of Locbiel) is, io Mr Cutts' opinion, the finest colt that the daughter of Voltigeur has yet thrown, and he likens him very much to Sir Modred at the same age.

The extraordinary general meeting of the shareholders of the New Zealand Stud Company takes place on Friday next, and we are anxiously awaiting the next move on the table in order to see whether there is sufficient patriotism left in Auckland to prevent the stud at Sylvia Park from being dispersed. "Jack" Rae and the party behind him must have found the little trip to Australia •with the jumpers Titokowaru and Guy Fawkes a profitable affair. The latest performance of the Auckland pair has not been sent by the Press Association, but I learn from a private Bourca that at the Melbourne Hunt Club's meeting, held at Flemington on Saturday last, Guy Fawke3 won the Steeplechase, of 150sovs, his stable mate Titokowaru running second. It is stated that Rae leaves Sydney this week for Auckland, but the horses are to remain in Victoria, presumably with a view to the Grand National meeting to be held there in July. It is stated that some Aucklandera banded together directly it was known that Hilda was going over to fulfil her engagement in the Sydney Birthday Cup, and took 1000 to 100 about her chance.

George Hope last week took up the Captiyator—Maid of Honour colt, purchased at Sylvia Park by Mr W. Bobbett. He is a youngster showing plenty of size. I understand that the committee of Auckland Tattersal's have a case on hand in which the conduct of a member while engaged in playing cards in the olub rooms is challenged. A private telegram received to-day from George Wright states that Hilda. Teksum, and Antekpe, had a good passage to Sydney by the Waihora, and were all in splendid health.
