Voluntrkbs.- The Port Chalmers Nava's and'the Portobello Rifle, Club commenced a friendly match on Saturday, 26th ult., and finished It on Saturday, 10th Inst The weather was very unfavourable on both days. Tho first day resulted in a draw in favour of Portobello, at their own range; while.the second was in favour of tbe Navals, on their own ground. The day was very boiitennu, with wind, and rain, so that good scoring wa. impossible. I have been at a good many matches, but never had t'> hold off the target at2ooyds until I visited Port Chnlmers. This -will give marksmen an idea ot the Port Chalmers range. I believe it is the most difficult range in the colony. The target is placed on the side of Goat I Bland, and at all stages you have to fire across the water. Those used to ranges inland have to find out elevations other than thoie that they formerly used. It is a plfcy the Port cannot provide their volunteers with a better place to practise, as they are very jolly fellows to visit.
