The wool sales closed with the market steady. Merinos — medium greasy inferior Id ; scoured — superior quality l^d, inferior 2d ; crossbreds— medium greasy £d, inferior Id below February rates.

Three hundred and five thousand bales were catalogued for the series of wool sales just finished, of which 100,000 bales were held over. Besides this, 101,000 bales were exported.

Messrs Murray, Roberts, and Co. have received the following cablegram from Messrs Helmuth Schwaitze and Co., dated 10th inst: — «• The sales closed fairly animated without further change. As compared with closing rates of last series, prices for greasy are Id, and for scoured 2d lower, and cro3sbreds are £d to Id lower. The total quantity sold is 289,000 bales, of which 155,000 bales were taken for export ; 96,000 bales have been held over."

Messrs Dalgety and Company, have received the following cablegram from their London office, dated 10th inst.?— "Wool sales closed a shade firmer, particularly for New Zealand wools. Out of the net quantity available for sale, some 132,000 bales have been sold for home consumption, 145,000 for the continent, and 7000 bales for America, leaving 97.000 bales to be carried forward to the next sales."

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company have received the following cablegram from their London office, dated 10th inst. :— •• Wool: the sales closed firmly this day at au average deoline of about 7| per cent, on last sales' closing rates, except for crossbred and lambs, which have declined |d per lb, and superior greasy merino market easier. The total quantity sold during the past sales is 282,000 bales, of which 145,000 ba,les have been taken for the continent, and 7000 bales for America. It is estimated that 99,000 bales be.ye been held over for future disposal."
