OTAGO RUGBY FOOTBALL UNION.
A special general meeting of the Ofcago Kugby Football Union was held in the club room on Saturday evening, the president (DrCoughtrey) occupying the chair. On the motion of Mr J. H. Chapman (for Mr W. D Milne) it was resolved — "That the following bye-law be added to the bye-laws of the union : — ' That the report and balance sheet to be bubmitted to the Reueral meeting be printed by the committee and circulated among the clubs, so as to be received by them at lenst one week before the day fixed for tho general meoHnjj.'"
Mr B E MoHßisoNmovel — " That the worl<?, 1 or to Ihe O'ago High School Club,' bs added to bye-law 19." The effect; of the alteration, he explained, would be to enable players in the High School Club to play in repres-ntative matches, if considered to be good enough. The motion was opposed by Mr E, Bhiggs
(Caversham), who urged that ot er junior clubs should be accorded the same privileges, but it was carried by a large majority. . Mr B. B. Morrison' moved—" That the words ' for betting on the result of a match in which he is a player' be inserted in rule ~i after the words ' profane or indecent language.'' He thought it was their duty, even if in a mild way, to stamp their opinion of betting arno. ,; players. — (Hear, hear ) To a certain exfceu ;c had become a scandal that players were in il.o habit; of betting — he did not say in lan-o amounts— on the results of matches, and the fact was pointed out as a defect in the game. Mr J. H. Morrison seconded the motion, which was unanimously carried after a short discussion.
