THE GAZETTE.
The Gazette notifies that hares and Californian quail may be taken or killed within Otago district from Ist May to 31st July. Lieutenant Notman, of the Dunedm Naval Artillery, has been allowed to retire with the honorary rank of captain. Regulations have been made by which licenses to shoot and kill deer (bucks or stags only) in the Otago Acclimatisation Society's district will be issued by the Chief Fostmaster, Dunedin, on the recommendation f>\ the secretary to the Ofcago Acclimatisation* Society, for a fee of £2. The license shall entitle the person named therein to kill bucks or stags only between the days of Ist March instant and 30th April proximo. No hind or fawn will be allowed to be killed on any pretext whatever, and no dogs will be allowed to accompany either the licensee op any attendant he may have with him. The licensee must give notice to the Chief Postmaster of the date on which it is his intention to stalk deer ; such notice to be posted, or delivered, or telegraphed three clear days before such date. No power is given authorising any person, to sell any deer or portion thereof.
