TAKAPUNA RACES. Auckland, May 24.
The Takapuna races were held to-day. There *& a large attendance, and the racing was fairly good. Four horses fell in the Birthday Handicap, and A. Sutherland, who was riding Turquoise, was somewhat shaken, the other jockeys being unhurt. The results are as follow : —

Hurdle Race.— Orangeman, 1; Piri,2; Belle, 3, Birthday Handicap.— Friendship, 1 ; Antelope, 9. Libeller, 3. " stkeplechase.— Victory, 1 ; Orangeman, 2 ; FairP Handicap.— Cateßby, 1 ; Snake, 2 ; Reproach, 3.
