LAND BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Land Board, held ou Wednesday, was attended by Messrs J. P. Maitland (chief commissioner), Logan, Clark, and Duncan.

SHOTOVER.

A telegram waß received from the Under-secretary for the Crown lands with reference to an application by John Matheson for grazing right over section 4, block X, Shotover. The rabbit inspector recommended that the application be granted.— Referred to the chief commissioner.

AHURIRI RIVER.

Mr John Wilson applied for a lease of the island on the Ahuriri river, opposite the Sailor's Cutting, for the purpose of turning out bullocks thereon, for which he -would pay £6 per annum.— Referred to Bheep-inßpeetor Fullerton for report. •

OATLDJS.

Mrs Edward Goodchild asked that 60 acres southwest of sections 12 and 13. block IV, Catlins district, be offered for sab as rural land on deferred payments, with the view of enabling her to apply for-Bame. — Referred to ranger for report.

TIGER HILL

Mr W. L. Simpson, on behalf of Patrick Sloan, asked that section 29, block V, Tiger- Hill, now opened as deferred-payment land, be changed to perpetual lease land.— Resolved that the Government be recommended to revoke proclamation and to set the land apart for perpetual leasing ; < the Vincent County Council to be consulted with as to the five-acre quarry reserve applied for it.

LIGNITE LICENSE.

Mr Robert Simmers applied for a provisional occupation license for raising lignite on section 44, block X, Glenkenich district.— Referred to Ranger Hughau for report.

GLENKENICH.

Mr W. L. Simpson, for David Dickison, licensee of section 10, block I, Glenkenich, asked the board to refrain from taking steps to forfeit his licence until after the session of Parliament, as he expected relief by legislation.— Request granted. KUROW.

Mr F. W. Hllle stated that he had erected a boundary fence between sections 23 and 24, block VIII, Kurow, and asked that when the latter section was offered it be burdened with valuation and half cost of fence— namely, £24 15s.— Noted.

GIMMBRBURN.

John Law applied for a grazing right over section 38 and 40, block IV, Gimmerburn district, on condition of his keeping the land clear of rabbits. Inspector Quartly recommended that the request be granted, — Referred to the chief commissioner.

COAL CREEK.

The district land officer, Naseby, in reporting on an application by Mr Dickison for a license to raise coal on a piece of land on Run 205 cat Coal creek, recommended the same be favourably considered.— Resolved that the license for three years be issued for 5 acres, at £1 per acre per annum.

GREKNVALE.

Wm. Quin applied for Abram Watson, occupant of the southern portion of mining reserve, section 2, blookXIII, Greenvale district, asking that the other 20 acres of the section be proclaimed open for perpetual leasing.— Declined.

DUNBACK.

The application of John Sutherland to purchase under agricultural lease section 20, block V, Dunback, was approved.

waikoikoi,

Thomas M'Dermid applied for suburban land, section 1, Waikoikoi, on deferred-payment. — License to issue.

SWINBURN.

The Perpetual Trustees, for J. Freeland, applied to have sections 2 and 3, block X, and section 1, block VI, Swinburn (now a small grazing run), opened on pastoral lease at 3d an acre, or that he should have the grazing right until the land is required on condition that he keeps the land clear of rabbits.— Government to be recommended accordingly.

COJIPLETING PURCHASE.

The following applications to complete purchase were approved:— Thomas Telfer, section 2, blojk IV, Waikaka; James Cleland, section 1, block 11, Otama; Thomas Johnston, section 25, block VI, Table Hill.

DART. Mr Simpson, on behalf of J. C. Fenn, applied to have section 7, and 9 to 14, block 111, Dart district, also bu»h reserve adjoining, consisting of about 1500 acres, grouped and opened as a small grazing run.— Referred to the Government for consideration. Report to be obtained from Banger Adair.

TUAPEKA DISTRICT.

The Government having accepted the surrender of Eun 259, Tuapeka district, from Mr F. Fulton, the board was requested to fix new terms of lease and upset rental.— Consideration deferred.

CANCELLED RUN LICENSES.

Licenses of the undermentioned runs having been cancelled, the board dealt with the runs :— Run 457, Fiord county, area 42,400 acres ; last let for a term of 14 years at £10, upset £10. Bun 2b, Wakafcip, 2700 acres: last let for 14 years at £20 per annum, last [upset s£2o.s £2o. Hun, section 34 and 35, Mount Wendon, area 80a Or 33p ; last let for seven years at £3, last upset £3.— Heeolved that Buns 457 and 23 be offered at £10 for M years, and the sections At Weodon at £3 for seven years.

GREENVALE.

Ihe perpetual lease of William Jenkins, Greenvale district, was forfeited for non execution of same.
