NOTES BY JACK.
On New Year's Day a number of bowlers, members of the Caledonian Bowling Club, left Dunedin by the s.s. Tekapo to play a match at Oamaruwith the local club, but owing to the late arrival of the steamer the match had to be postponed until a future date. A friendly game of one hour's duration was, however, played, the local club coming off victorious, winning the game by eight points. The members of the Oatnaru Club vied with each other in making their visitors heartily welcome, and for the short time at their disposal succeeded admirably in their intention. It was no doubt a great disappointment to the members of the Oamaru Club and to the visiting team that the steamer did not arrive at least two hours earlier. The latter were, however, well pleased with their visit and expressed their admiration for the capital green of the Oamaru Club. They intend to visit Oamaru again during the current season, on which occasion it is to be hoped they will have time to get through a match.
