The Stark Purchase.

Auckland, August 18. Mr Dargaville, who arrived from Wellington yesterday, has sent an urgent telegram to the Premier to-day strongly urging the appointment of a commission to inquire into the Stark property purchase as the only means of allaying the feeling of suspicion which pervades all classes of the community. The Premier has sent the following reply to Mr Dargaville :—": — " I shall submit your telegram to the Cabinet, but without evidence what could a commission do ? If indignant persons would only get any evidence, or tell us what exact point, would investigate the case at once. Do they mean to say Seamen and Brewer should be dismissed, or will they name the conspirators ? If there has been any fraud practised on Government, I would do what I could to bring the offenders to justice, but vague statements and indignation are not evidence."

Stop that cough ; don't delay, but take Bonnington's " Carrageen or Irish Moss;'' and don't be put off with miserable imitations.— [Abvt.]
