THE AFGHAN FRONTIER COMMISSION.
(Reutee's Telegrams.) London, August 17. The Standard announces that, owing to the difficulty that has arisen between England and Russia in, regard to the Afghan frontier question, the British Commission is to bo recalled forthwith from the Afghan frontier. August 18. It is officially announced that the Government has not decided upon the immediate withdrawal of the Frontier Commission, but that negotiations will continue with the Eussian Government. It is intended the Commission should return to India in the autumn. Calcutta, August 17. It is announced from Simla that the British Commission for the delimination of the Afghan frontier will return to India next month via Cabul. (Special to Press Association). London, August 17. Eussia is heavily fortifying Batoum, and strong reinforcements are being despatched there. News from Afghanistan state that the Afghans declare they will not yield Kala Ekhumta, a town on the frontier.
