BICYCLE RACES.

Christchurch, December 26.

The weather to-day was cold and cloudy, but without rain. Over 2000 persons attended the bicycle races at Lancaster Park. His Excellency was present. The Five-mile Championship was won by C. Fisher, of Dunedin, after an exciting tv sle with W. H. Langdown, of Christchurch. Selby, of Auckland, was completely distanced. Fisher only won by a few yards. Time, 17min. 37 2-sth sec. The Mile Handicap was won by G. B. Mannering (of North Canterbury), with 120 yards start ; Dunsford (Pioneer, Christchurch), 120 yards, 2 ; Simpson (Christchurch), 200 yards, 3. Time, 3min. 5 l-sth sec. The Five-mile Roadster Handicap was won by C. Torlesse (North Canterbury), with 450 yards start, with T. Boyd (North Canterbury), 350 yards, second. Time, 18min. 9sec. In the Three-mile Bicycle Handicap G. E. Mannering, with 400 yards, was first ; T. W. Crowe (Christchurch), 750 yards, second. Time, lOmin. 49sec. In the Ten-mile Handicap G. E. Mannering, with 1000 yards, was first ; W. H. Langdown, scratch, second; C. Torlesse, 1760 yards, third; and J. Selby (Auckland), 900 yards, fourth. Won by about 100 yards. Time, 35min. 6sec. The handicapping was unsatisfactory jn some races, the scratch men being generally too severely treated.
