Breaches of the Municipal Corporation Act.

Wanganui, September 4.

Three cases were brought this morning against borough councillors for breaches of the Municipal Corporations Act. G. Carson, of the •Wanganui Chronicle, was fined £100 for voting while accounts due to him for advertising remained unpaid. It was pointed out that while the English act, from which the New Zealand aat had been copied, had been amended to include newspaper advertisements, the New Zealand, act had not been amended. Ten other cases against Mr Carson were adjourned for a week. In the case against J. Murray, of Murray's Foundry, defendant pointed out that the ■work could not have been done anywhere else in Wanganui. He had never done any work which any other local tradesmen could do. The cases against him were adjourned for a week. In the case against J. Baird, defendant had supplied trees for the public domains. This case was also adjourned.
