Fat Cattle.— 229 yarded. The bulk of these really good beef, a few pens prime, and odd lots inferior. For superior quafifcies,, although prices were rather irregular, biddings were brisk at about last week's .' rati'S, but interior bcat>ts weie difficut of sale at a material concession on former values. For the former two classes an advance of nearly 3s per heml wns obtained, mainly because or, the presence of two up-country buyers. Well-bred suckers continue in good demand,' all coming forward finding a good market at up to los. Wool.— Locally there are no transactions of ■ any importance to report. Sheepskins. — The tone of the market is much improved and competition at the weekly sales held on Monday last was keener at better rates. Green crosshreds brought 2s lOd to 4s 9d; do merinos, 2s ('it to 3s 13d; dry crossbreds, lOd to 4»; do» merinos, Is lv" to 3s Od; pelts, 13d. Rabbitskins. — Full furred winter skins are in good request at a shade better prices. Medium and inferior are still slow of sale at low rates. Prime skins are worth 12d to lid— a special lot has brought 43d; medium to fair, odto lOd. Suckers almost unsaleable at from Id per lb. ' Hides. — The local demand continues brisk at former quotations — viz., 2Jd for light and inferior ; up to 4id and Aid for sound, well trimmed and salted lots. Tallow. — It is not possible for shippers to operate in the face of London advices, and the consequence is prices are unprecedentedly low. ' Best rendered brings 18s to 21s ; medium, iip to 16s ; rough fat, 10s to >2s per cwt. Grain. — Wheat : A rising market. Millers are more disposed to purchase, but holders of prime parcels will not sell at late rates. The fact is that fcherp nre few parcels of prime wheat obtainable. Prime white velvet and Tuscan are worth 3s 2d to 3s 4d; one parcel brought 3s Od. Other kinds are steadily improving and with light stocks forward promise better rates. Oats. — There has been little business done during the week, mainly because nearly all kinds are short in stock. First qualities are much inquired for, but offerings are limited, and holders expect a further rise, Best milling is quoted afc Is lid to 2s ; superior teed, Is 9d to Is lid ; interior and discoloured, IS 3d to Is Bd, Barlej'.— The principal buyers have been shipping at prices ranging from 2s to 3s (f.0.b.) Locally, small parcels of malting have been quitted at 3s. Milling is worth about 2s. Potatoes. — Derwenjs bring 62s 6d to 70s per ton; kidneys, 30s to 455. Grass Seeds. — Market unchanged and very little business doing. Farim-is' loth are worth 2s 6d to 3s 6d, according to quality ; machine dressed, 4s 6d to 5s per bushel.
