Melbourne, June 26. Reports have been received from Gippsland that a promising goldfield has been discovered on the Snowy River, and a rush has commenced in consequence of the glowing accounts of the prospectors. Melbourne, June 30. The manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand reports on the local market as follows : — Shipping wheat is decidedly firmer, at 3s lid to 4s ; malting barley is quiet at 4s to 4s 6d. New Zealand oats : Feed sorts are quieter, but steady at 2s lid to 3s ; milling description steady, but not in active demand, at 2s lid to 3s 2d ; New Zealand oats, in bond, 2s Id to 2s 4d. Sydney, June 26. The officers of the New South Wales Contingent were entertained last evening at a complimentary banquet in their honour given by the members of the Ministry. Amongst the guests were his Excellency the Governor, Lord Loftus, Admiral Tryon, the Colonial representatives, and many official personages. A number of speeches were made, among others one by Col. Haultain, replying to the toast of the visitors, in which he tendered the congratulations of New Zealand in a most felicitous manner. The Mayor of Sydney held a luncheon today, at which he entertained several of the official visitors from other Colonies who were 'present at the reception of the contingent. June 28. The wreck of the A.S.N. Co.'s s.s. Cahors, which was put up to auction, realised £500. The whole cargo fetched £240.
