CATARACT IN HORSE'S EYE.

G. W., Strath-Taieri, writes :— Some months ago I had a valuable draught filly suffering from inflammation of the right eye caused probably by some accident. This gradually got better, but I see she has a white sjjot in the centre of the eye. This, apparently, interferes with the vision, as now that she is broken in she is constantly shying. Can anything be done in this casoY

We are afraid uot. Operations for cataract are not as a rule performed in the lower animals, except perhaps in cases of experiment. Careful driving and handling will gradually overcome the propensity to shy, and being a draught horse it is not of so much consequence as in an animal used for ridiug or driving.
