WAIRUNA.

(PROM A CORRESPONDENT.)

April 20th. Our School. — The following is Inspector Qoyen's report on the Wairuna, School :— Percentage of passes gained, 89. The results are excellent, since they have been attained under circumstances highly unfavourable to progress : I allude to the prevalence of scarlet fever during November and December of last year, and to the fact that the school has only quite recently reassembled after a long harvest vacation. Reading : Distinct and deliberate. Spelling : Excellent in all the Standards but V. and I. Writing • Excellent throughout ; and the neatness of the exercise books and of the examination papers reflects the highest credit both upon the teacher and tho taught Arithmetic : Fair in the V., weak in the IV., and very good in the other Standards. Grammar : Tho parsing 18 good throughout, and the composition fair. Geography : Excellent throughout. History: Well known throughout. Object Lessons and Science are not taken up. The behaviour of the children, the tone, and the class movements are all excellent.
