Mr J. F. Watson reports for the week ending 2nd August :—

Reef ton. —The Welcome Company's retvrn for five days' crushing was 5490z of amalgam from 75 ton* of stone, and for the month 1201Jozof retorted gold from 335 tons of stone. A dividend of 4s pct 1 (15,000lh) share was declared. -• Tho Kcep-it-Daik Company's return was loOOoz lOiiwt of amalgam from 180 tons of stone ; the return for the fortnight w.ia Gi4oz retorted gold, and for the month b'JOnz of retoited gold, a dividend of 2s 6d per (20,000 th) share was declared. The Golden Flceoe Company : The reef is from 4ft to sft thiuk in underlie or shaft. Crushing ia being carried on. -The Fiery Cross Company havefcivo leaders of quartz in the face of northern extension of the 450 ft tunnel.— Tho Specimen Hill Company : Tho reef exposed in upper tunnel shows a great width of stone.— The Golden Point Company are making good progress with tho opening-up of their mine. — The Wealth of .Nations Company : Tho reef is improving in the shaft. — Tho Knergotic Company : The reef is about 2ft thick, showing gold.— The Oriental Company's mine is now in a forward state. — The Nil Deapcrandum Company : The winze now jroing down on the lode ahowsa large body of stone.— Tho Rainy Creak Company commenced crushing last week —The Royal Company : The contractors -are pushing ahead with the tunnel. Some gold-bearing 1 leaders wero crossed recently.— Tho Golden Arch Company have payable stone in the winze going dowa from the low level.

Lyell. Tho united Alpine Company's return for three. days' crushing was 107 oz of amalgam from 100 tons of stone.
