„ , , March 20th. The Hyde annual races are ovor, and of course the horsey talk is about spun out also. On] r ono Hyde horse was successful in pulling off a race^ the others being outsiders The Hurdle llace was a walk-over for Gordon's Cinderella, the Maiden Plate wm takoii by Bowse's Blackboy, the Cup by Beck's Peopirjff Tom, the Trot by a horse from StrathTaieri, the District Plato by Poepirjo- Tom tho Consolation by Corrans' Kate Kelly, the Hnrrv Scurry by Trotter's Miss Chatham, and Hospital Race by Corrans' Kate Kelly. A protest was entered hy R. Trotter, tho ownor of the third horse in theJTrotXAggy), against the second horse (Sir Thomas), for breaking and not turning. This was sustained, an'l Agjry roceivod Recond place. I see " Beacon" thinks Mr Foster " will pray to be saved from hie friends, and accuses me of calling tho two hot ses 'draughts' and ' tussockers.'" Waß "Beacon" so blind as not to notico tho inverted commas placed over the name ? If he was, perhaps he may now bo ablo to see them, and I havo no doubt that tho owner of the horse* cares little what anyone calls thorn so long as they ar treated fairly.
