GORE.
(fHOSI OUB OWBf, OOBBESPONDENT.)
March 20th. The first meeting of the Gore Town Board was held on Saturday last. Mr John Smaill was Unanimously eldcted chairman of the Board. It was agreed to advertise for a town clerk. Other .matters of ,, interest ,were, discussed, chicf 1 amongst which, was the separation of the town' from -, the, Knapdale Road District, of 'w^iich it previously formed, a part. The nomination of .Commissioners for the Gore Town District took place on Monday. j The undermentioned gentlemen, being the only | ones nominated, were duly elected as the first 1 Town Boardfor Gore Town District. Tosaye the expenses of an election it had been previously arranged at a public meeting on Saturday last to select and nominate only five candidates. This' I consider a very judicious arrangement, and > one which might _ very profitably be imitated by other districts. The gentlemen elected were Messrs T. Green, T. L. 'Pillqr, John Eraser, A. Mackay, and J. Ifeherr.
! It is rumoured -that Messrs Haxton and Beattie intend to remove to your city — in.pre ferenco to rebuilding on the site lately occu pied' by them, trusting to do a still larger trade than they have done in Gore. If this prove correct, it will prove a great loss to our districts and be very generally regretted by our residents.' t ", '- < ■ ' j . ' ' . . Harvesting operations are ( being vigorously | carried on ? and, given, favourable weather, the crop's should iall be! ,safely.. housed 1 during the next fortnight. The^ield, promises, to be a v6rjr fair one, although not tip to last year's average; ■ ' , (
