At match between the "Patience" Opera Troupe and Otago Daily Times and Witness employes) came oS on the Oval on the l Jth, and resulted in a victory for the termer eleven by 51 runs on the first mmngs. t A good number of onlookers turned out to witness the play, and a very enjoyable afternoon was spent. The wicket was, owing to the recent rains, rather treacherous, but notwithstanding this several of the Opera team totted up good scores. J. 3? Forde, in particular, played well for his 3ti, W. ]?ord also showed good form, and contributed 15. The only other player who reached double figures was the captain, H. Veraon, who, after keeping up his wicket for -a .long time, was unfortunately run out. Several of the^Pationce" players fielded remarkably well, and Ford's wickot-keeping was first-class. The Times Eleven were somewhat handicapped on account of the deficiency in bowliug. Appended are details of the play :—
