Correspondence.
JUSTICE & YOUR GLENfcBNIOH CORRESPONDENT. TO THE BDITOE. SIRi — In yo ur laßI aB ' i ssue I notice a letter signed " Justice," attacking your Glenkenioh correspondent. The writer is probably the same person who attacked your correspondent about 12 months ago. To use a Colonialism, your "own" ia replying to the writer (who, if I reoollect^ rightly signed himself " Protest ") on the previous ocoaeion, completely put the set on him (Protest) ; and I have no doubt that he has ever since ween waiting for a catch, whioh he thinks he has found ; bub anyone who has any common sense will at once see that his remarks were altogether uncalled for. I agree with much said in a letter in your last issue signed " Spectator," and reoommend Mr "Justice "to peruse it carefully. I maysay that your Glenkenich correspondent's writings are much appreciated, not only in hia own but in surrounding districts, and you arehardly doing justice to your numerous readers in publishing Buoh futile comments as those made by "Justice," Correspondents whom I know devote a good deal of their time, and pftimes money, in the representation of their distriots, and often get little remuneration and lees thanks for their efforts to further the interests of their various districts, and I venture to assert that correspondents not only benefit the districts whioh they represent, but also furnish your readers with much interesting matter.— l am, &o. Settlee. Tapanui, 21st August. [We think our Glenkenich correspondent, while thanking "Settler" for his defence against " Justice," will freely admit that it is only right that the public should have an opportunity of expressing an opinion on any matters dealt with by our own correspondents. With the latter part of " Settler's " letter we are quite at one ; and whatever may be the case with the publio, our correspondent's efforts are appreciated by us.—E d, 0. W.]
